In this era of high technological advancement, the need to identify an individual especially in the developing countries has long been an attractive goal. The necessity to secure an environments, devices and resources due to the increasing rate of crime has led to the proposal of this research. Iris modality has become interesting as an alternative approach to reliable visual recognition of persons due to its distinctive characteristics, as well as fingerprint modality for its innumerable advantages. Therefore a bi-modal biometric system using Qualitative SVM (Support Vector Machine) and MLP (Multilayer Perceptron) for classification has been proposed in this research. Performance analysis of these modalities will be carried out with each model. The designed models will be duly implemented using JAVA programming Language as a frontend and Access database as a backend respectively. Keywords: Biometric, Bimodal system, Iris modality, fingerprint modality, Support Vector Machine and Multilayer Perceptron

In this paper we propose an efficient brain tumor detection method, which can detect tumor and locate it in the brain MRI images. This method exactly the tumor by using K-means algorithm followed by object labeling algorithm. Also some preprocessing steps (median filtering and morphological operations) are used for tumor detection purpose. It is observed that the experimental results of the proposed method gives better result in comparison to other technique. Brain tumor is inherently serious and life-threatening. Tumors are of different types and they have different Characteristics and different treatment. Tumor is an uncontrolled growth of tissues in any part of the body. This paper introduces inefficient detection of brain tumor from cerebral MRI images. Most Research in developed countries show that the number of people who have brain tumors were died due to the fact of inaccurate detection. CT scan or MRI that is directed into intracranial cavity produces a complete image to detect the tumor some preprocessing steps are used i.e. median filtering and morphological operation. After this by applying K means method then binarized image is labeled using Object Labeling algorithm. The purpose of this algorithm is to label different objects within the image. The tumor is extracted from the MR image and its exact position and the shape also determined. The stage of the tumor is displayed based on the amount of area calculated from the cluster

Adoption of Coping Strategies to Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Outbreak by Rabbit Farmers in Kwara State, Nigeria

Rabbit production is increasingly becoming a source of livelihood to many households in Nigeria. Unfortunately, a recent incidence of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHD), which is a virulent and rapidly spreading disease of rabbits adversely affected the Nigerian rabbit industry and caused significant economic loss to farmers. Hence, this study assessed the coping strategies adopted by rabbit farmers as response to the RHD outbreak in the study area. A snowball sampling technique was adopted for selecting 120 affected rabbit farmers from whom data utilized for the study were collected using structured questionnaire. The obtained data were analysed using descriptive statistics to describe the rabbit farmers based on their socioeconomic characteristics and the different coping strategies adopted; and Multivariate Probit (MVP) Regression Model to determine the factors influencing the rabbit farmersˈ adoption of coping strategies. The result from the MVP analysis revealed that age of the farmer, size of household, membership of cooperative, extension contacts, amount of credit accessed, income per rabbit production cycle, and income from other sources significantly influenced rabbit farmersˈ adoption of coping strategies. It is, therefore, recommended that the farmers should join farming cooperatives so that they can have access to useful resources and relevant information that can help them cope with the risks involved in the business. In addition, extension education and outreach should be frequently provided to the rabbit farmers to avail them of advisory services that can help with mitigating the impact of the risks involved in the business
